Chang Hung Yu, along with Hsu Hsiao Wen, designed the backup sanitary pads/tampons in 2007. The idea behind this design was based on face-to-face interviews conducted with 100 Asian females aged between 18 and 30. The interviews revealed that while many females are accustomed to carrying sanitary pads with them, they often forget to check if they have any left in their bags. This design aims to address this issue and provide a reminder for females to always have a backup sanitary pad available for urgent situations.
